Marion (Pete) Winton Slaughter

Marion W. (Pete) Slaughter, age 83 moved from Frisco, Texas to his home in Heaven on September 28, 2004. He was born August 6, 1921 in Farrar, Texas. He lived many years of his life in Houston, Texas. He was a restaurateur; food broker; inventor who was awarded five U.S. Patents and a Foodservice and Cold Retention consultant. Although his latter years were darkened by Alzheimer's Disease, he loved the Lord and loved to study His Word. After moving with his wife Billie to Frisco he was able to participate briefly in the Wednesday Night Men's Bible Study of Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco. He attended Texas A&M under a football scholarship and graduated in the Class of 1944. A WWII Veteran, he was awarded the Army Commendation Ribbon by the Commanding General, United States Forces in Austria. He was a lifelong Rotarian and avid supporter of Boys and Girls Clubs and Literacy Advance. he was President of Center City Rotary Club in Houston, Texas and among many other Rotary honors was the first member of the Center City Rotary Club Hall of Fame. He is survived by his wife, Billie; daughters, Charlotte Morris, Caren Dobbs and Carrie Layfield and her husband, Steven; son David Slaughter and his wife, Kim; grandchildren, Yancy and Bradley Stewart, John, Paul, Sarah and Emily Slaughter and great-granddaughter, Kodie Stewart. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, September 30, 2004 from 6-8 PM at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Frisco, Texas. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 1, 2004 at 10:00 AM at the Funeral Home with Pastor Henry Grubbs officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview West Memorial Park, Frisco.
