As fireworks lit the sky on July 4, 2016, Marie Katherine Johnson, age 76, of McKinney, Texas, departed this world and went to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ. She is now, truly free! Marie was born December 5, 1939, in Tomahawk, Wisconsin, to William and Rosalie Serene (Orcutt) Buchanan. She married Galen K, Johnson on September 26, 1963, in Mesa, Arizona. Marie was a member of Midway Baptist Church in Lowry Crossing, Texas.
She is survived by her husband, Galen Johnson of McKinney, Texas; children, Brenda Palmer and husband, Allen of Weston, Texas, Annette Heebner and husband, Ken of Sedalia, Colorado, Anthony Johnson and wife, Jennifer of Coffeyville, Kansas, Danielle Palacio and husband Erik of Sierra Vista, Arizona, Jeff Johnson and wife, Jennifer of Plano, Texas, and Marita Johnson and Juan Cuevas of Fayetteville, Georgia; twenty-two grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; brothers, George Buchanan and wife, Sonya of Elbert, Colorado, Roger Buchanan and wife, Shelba of Pikesville, North Carolina, Don Buchanan of Bellingham, Washington, and Dale Buchanan and wife, Becky of Sherman, Texas; and sisters, Carol Innes and husband, Neil of Murray, Kentucky, and Ruth Buchanan of McKinney, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 9, 2016, at Midway Baptist Church, 205 S. Bridgefarmer Rd., McKinney, Texas, 75069. Interment will follow at Wilson Chapel Cemetery in Lowry Crossing, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
