Marian “Mickey” Lea Story

Marian “Mickey” Lea Story of Cleburne, Texas passed away September 23, 2023 at the age of 86.  She was born February 22, 1937 to Leta (Horn) and Ammon Smith in McKinney, Texas.  Mickey married her high school sweetheart, the late Chester William Story, on June 29, 1957 in Princeton, Texas and they enjoyed nearly 66 years of marriage before his passing on June 4, 2023. 

Mickey taught high school Economics, college business courses, and was a licensed real estate agent before retiring.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Cleburne and spent many hours volunteering in the church.  Mickey and Chester enjoyed tutoring and mentoring elementary students at Santa Fe Elementary during their retirement years.  They also spent countless hours coaching their grandchildren’s select basketball teams.  She was the biggest cheerleader for her husband, children, and grandchildren. Mickey will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughters, Cheri White and husband, Mark, of Cleburne and Teri Vrba and husband, Glenn of Decatur, Texas; son, Kyle Story and wife, Teena, of Prosper, Texas; grandchildren, Drew Vrba, Sara Budinskiy and husband, Roman, Shay Stephens and husband, Justin, Chad White, Whitney Thompson and husband, Michael, and Tyler Story and wife, Lauren; great grandchildren, Britton Budinskiy and Forrest Thompson; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other loving family members and friends.

Mickey was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Chester Story; parents, Ammon and Leta Smith; and one sister, Denna Lane Davis.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 29, 2023 at First United Methodist Church, 1300 W Westhill Drive, Cleburne, Texas 76033 with Pastor Melissa McDuffee and Pastor Michael Thompson.

Following the funeral, a committal service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 29, 2023 at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.  Serving as pallbearers will be Drew Vrba, Chad White, Tyler Story, Roman Budinskiy, Justin Stephens, Michael Thompson, and Cullen Kickhoefer.

There is no visitation scheduled.
