Maria Laura Ruiz Valdivia, a resident of Fairview, Texas, passed away December 9, 2025 at the age of 76. She was born in Ameca, Jalisco, Mexico on November 21, 1949, to her loving parents, Jose De Jesus Valdivia Hernandez and Jovita Castro Rodriguez. Laura met the love of her life, Abel Ruiz Ahumada, and the two were married on December 28, 1978, in their hometown of Ameca. After marrying, she embraced her calling as a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. Through every joy and every challenge, she taught her family the enduring values of love, unity, and resilience.
Laura was an extraordinary wife and mother who poured her heart into raising her children. She cherished every moment spent with her family. She delighted in crafting, baking, and especially in being surrounded by her grandchildren. Exceptionally talented and endlessly generous, Laura shared her creativity, warmth, and love with all who knew her. She found deep joy in serving others and devoted significant time to helping at her church, where she discovered true friendship, healing, and peace through her faith in Jesus Christ. Her presence, kindness, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Laura is survived by her children: Efrain Ruiz and wife Ana Belia of Mesquite, Texas, Gabriel Ruiz and wife Loyda of Fairview, Texas, Laura Flores and husband Tomas of Princeton, Texas, Armando Ruiz of Greenville, Texas, Rosalba Flores and husband Eduardo of Fairview, Texas, Veronica Valderrama and husband Luis Daniel of Princeton, Texas, Sandra Caraballo and husband Herson of Vienna, Virginia, and Jessica Clark and husband Thomas of Allen, Texas.
Her legacy lives on through her cherished grandchildren: Kevin Ruiz and wife Janna, Karen Ruiz, Yazmine Reynoso and husband Abel, Yvonne Ruiz, Abigail Ruiz, Leticia Flores-Ruiz, Natalie Flores, Jacqueline Flores, Ashley Flores, Ariel Ruiz, April Ruiz, Ulysses Flores, Kelsey Flores, Aileen Flores, Zoe Valderrama, Ian Valderrama, Hannah Caraballo, Caleb Caraballo, Oliva Rae Clark, Emma James Clark and Beau Jaxon Clark.
She is also blessed with great-grandchildren who survive her: Jaquelyn Ruiz, Luka Ruiz, Noah Ruiz, Enzo Ruiz, Naviya Flores, and Luis Jimenez, Jr.; and numerous extended family members and friends, who will miss her and cherish her memory.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband, Abel Ahumada, and son, Lucio Ruiz.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 29, 2025, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas, 75013. The family will receive guests during a visitation on Monday morning beginning at 9:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
