Maria Gurdiel de Simone falleció en paz el 27 de agosto de 2026, a la edad de 91 años, en Allen, Texas. Nació el 3 de marzo de 1935 en Sarria, Galicia, España, hija de Avelino y Sara Gurdiel.
Maria vivió una vida marcada por el amor, la bondad, la fe y la devoción a su familia. A los 20 años, emprendió una aventura desde España hasta Venezuela en barco, comenzando así un nuevo capítulo en su vida. Fue en Caracas, Venezuela, donde conoció a Jose Simone, con quien contrajo matrimonio el 29 de noviembre de 1958.
Maria fue una mujer amorosa, serena y de gran calidez, siempre sonriente, cuyo espíritu bondadoso dejó huella en todos los que la conocieron. Demostraba su amor no solo con palabras, sino también a través de innumerables actos de servicio y bondad. Siempre estaba dispuesta a ayudar; era colaboradora, atenta y cariñosa, y tenía el don de hacer que los demás se sintieran queridos y bienvenidos.
Maria también fue una mujer extraordinariamente talentosa y artística. Le encantaba coser y tejer, disfrutaba enormemente creando hermosos vestidos.
Por encima de todo, Maria estaba profundamente dedicada a su familia. Valoraba a las personas que amaba e hizo de su familia una parte central de su vida. Su legado es el de un amor expresado a través del servicio, una fe expresada mediante la bondad y una vida vivida con gracia y calidez.

A Maria le sobreviven su hija, Carol Simone, y su esposo, Agustin Viola-Prioli; su hija, Marlene Simone, y su ex yerno, Gregory Maturi; su hijo, Aldo Simone, y su ex nuera, Marisela Bertorelli; y sus nietos, Tomas y Victoria Viola-Prioli, Andrew y Michael Maturi, y Daniel y Javier Simone. Sus hermanos; Carmela, Lolli, Nito y Maria Teresa, Pily y Alexis.
El servicio funerario se llevará a cabo a las 10:00 a. m. del viernes 4 de septiembre de 2026 en Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. Maria Gurdiel de Simone passed away peacefully on August 27, 2026, at the age of 91, in Allen, Texas. She was born on March 3, 1935, in Sarria, Galicia, Spain, the daughter of Avelino and Sara Gurdiel.
Maria lived a life marked by love, kindness, faith, and devotion to her family. At the age of 20, she embarked on an adventure from Spain to Venezuela by ship, thus beginning a new chapter in her life. It was in Caracas, Venezuela, where she met Jose Simone, whom she married on November 29, 1958.
Maria was a loving, serene, and warm woman, always smiling, whose kind spirit left a mark on everyone who knew her. She showed her love not only with words, but also through countless acts of service and kindness. She was always willing to help; she was helpful, attentive, and affectionate, and had the gift of making others feel loved and welcomed.
Maria was also an extraordinarily talented and artistic woman. She loved to sew and knit and greatly enjoyed creating beautiful dresses.
Above all, Maria was deeply devoted to her family. She valued the people she loved and made her family a central part of her life. Her legacy is one of love expressed through service, faith expressed through kindness, and a life lived with grace and warmth.

Maria is survived by her daughter, Carol Simone, and her husband, Agustin Viola-Prioli; her daughter, Marlene Simone, and her former son-in-law, Gregory Maturi; her son, Aldo Simone, and her former daughter-in-law, Marisela Bertorelli; and her grandchildren, Tomas and Victoria Viola-Prioli, Andrew and Michael Maturi, and Daniel and Javier Simone. Her siblings: Carmela, Lolli, Nito and Maria Teresa, and Pily and Alexis.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. The family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home.
