Margie Buchanan

On Valentine’s day, February 14, 1924 Margie Buchanan was born in McKinney, Texas.  Margie was one of thirteen children belonging to William Mack Reeder and Sadie Rebecca Mask Reeder.

She graduated McKinney High School in 1942.  After completing a secretarial course Margie married her husband of 78 years, Willis Hopwood Buchanan, otherwise known as “Buck,” November 28, 1942.

Margie wore many hats, not only was she a homemaker she also delivered newspapers in the late 50’s and worked many years for the Times Herald.  Buck and Margie moved to Leonard about 1978.  Where they became members of Valley Creek Baptist Church.  She loved to be with family and as they say, “the more the better”.  She enjoyed being outside helping Buck.  As her chosen hobby Margie learned to quilt which enabled her to make something special for her children and grandchildren.

Margie is preceded in death by her parents, William Mack and Sadie Rebecca Reeder.

She is also preceded in death by her twelve siblings: Earl Jack Reeder (Louise), Iness Keyes (Eli), Perry Alexander Reeder, Ples Anderson Reeder (Gertrude), Holly Lavonia Kinser (George), Willie Owen Reeder (Evelyn), Gladys Viola Wellborn (Buck), Sadie Ruth Snavely, Floy Alfrey (Robert), Frances Irene McLeod (RC), William Mack Reeder Jr. (Louise), Mary Sue Shipley (Harry) and Son in Law, Gene Alford,

She is survived by  her husband Buck and her three Children: Linda Taraba, September 9, 1943 and husband AR, Gwen Alford March 31, 1947, Greg Buchanan April 19, 1956 and (Peggy), ten grandchildren: Alan Ray Taraba (Bobbie), Tim Taraba (Susan), Brent Taraba (Kristi), Cary Whaley (Jason) , Shary Henderson (Danny), Lori Ann Jones (Wayne), Melissa Rushing (Bill), Cody Buchanan (Valerie) Clint Buchanan (Jessica) and Douglas Wayne Alford (Cindy), twenty-four great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
