Margaret LaRue Savage

Margaret LaRue Savage, age 79, passed away at her home in Blue Ridge, surrounded by her family on Monday, May 25, 2020.  She was born on September 19, 1940 in Ben Franklin, Texas to Jess and Naomi Giddens.  LaRue attended a one-room school in Ben Franklin.  She later went on to attend Wolfe City High School and obtained her GED in 1986. 

On September 19, 1958 (her birthday), she married Truman Savage in Sunnyvale, TX.  Together, they had two daughters and one son.  LaRue worked for the Blue Ridge School District as a teacher’s aide and librarian throughout most of the eighties and early nineties.  She adored the students and many of them considered her a second “Mom.”  She loved playing games, conversing with friends/neighbors and family.  LaRue was a long-time member of Pike Baptist Church and enjoyed fellowship with her church family.

LaRue is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Truman; daughter, Julie Everett; son, Andy Savage; granddaughters Melissa Everett and Dana Nabors; great-grandsons, Jake Nabors and Jett Miller; brother, Jess Giddens, Jr. and many nieces/nephews.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Wendy Savage; parents, Jess and Naomi Giddens; and sister, Pat Grant. 

The family would like to thank the many neighbors and friends, as well as the great people of Heart-to-Heart Hospice for their loving care/support during the later months of her life.  In honor of LaRue, donations may be made to the Dementia Society of America.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 29, 2020 (2:00PM) at the Pecan Gap Cemetery, 305 Mayo Street, Pecan Gap, TX.
