Margaret Carlena Chandler of Allen Texas passed away peacefully and went to be with her Lord on June 9,2023. She was born on April 2nd, 1942 to Carl and Thelma Marion. She was the oldest of twin siblings, Paul and Paula.
Growing up in Allen Texas, Carlena was active in many things, including taking piano lessons from her mother, helping her father with farm work, and looking after her younger twin siblings. As a teenager at Allen High School, she was involved in basketball, drill team and was the Valedictorian of the class. She never missed any of her son’s activities as a mom, believing how important it was to be there to support them, even as they grew older and began their own careers and families. Her support of her nieces, nephews, cousins and grandchildren was the same, attending countless competitions, dances, recitals, weddings and graduation ceremonies through her years. Her love for family was endless.
Carlena was a teacher at Allen High School for over 30 years, teaching typing then business classes. She was known as teacher, mentor, and friend to students, teachers, coaches, administrators, and the entire Allen community. Her love and investment in education and Allen High School came from her heart as she bettered the lives of all who knew her. She was honored by having an elementary school named after her. After retiring, she and many of her friends stayed active in the Retired Teachers of Texas organization. Her love and support of education never ended as she and her friends wrote countless letters to leaders and mademany trips to Austin to support and fight for her beloved profession.
Carlena was an active member of First Baptist Church Allen her entire life. Her love for her Lord was the source of her strength, love, and unending support of her family and friends.
Carlena is survived by her sons, Brian and Bart Chandler, grandchildren Campbell and Hadley, siblings Paul and Paula, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, and a countless number of friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and husband for over 50 years, Charles.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, June 16, 2023 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.

Interment will be held at Ridgeview Memorial Park following the service.
The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the funeral home.
