IN LOVING MEMORY

Margaret Mathews Cain

Nov 06 1920 - Mar 20 2012

Mary Margaret Mathews Cain passed away peacefully on March 20, 2012 at Emeritus Assisted Living in McKinney, Texas. She was 91 years of age.

Margaret was born in Durant, Oklahoma on November 6, 1920 to Grover C. Mathews and Luddie Downs Mathews. She graduated from Allen High School in 1938. Margaret married Glenn Cain on November 25, 1938 in the First Christian Church of Allen, Texas. In 1943, when Glenn was called to serve his country in World War II, she rode the bus to San Diego and lived with an elderly couple to be near the Navy base when Glenn’s ship would come into port. Like many couples during that time, they made many personal sacrifices on behalf of their country.

After the war, they were blessed with the birth of two sons. Margaret was a devoted and loving mother and taught her boys to be independent, caring and to know and love their God. After her sons were older, she had a career in office management in the automotive industry, and later in real estate and antique sales.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Luddie Mathews and recently by her husband Glenn Cain in December 2011.

She is survived by son G.G. and wife, Amoret, of McKinney; son, Andy, of McKinney; grandson, Shannon and his wife, Anne, of McKinney; granddaughter Crissy Clay and her husband, Ken, of Flower Mound; granddaughter, Angela Chisholm and her husband Dave, of Frisco; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Frances Melton, of McKinney; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday evening March 22, 2012 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Turrentine Jackson Morrow in McKinney. A memorial service will be Friday at 2:00 p.m., March 23, 2012 at the McKinney First Christian Church with interment at Ridgeview Memorial Park immediately following the service. Memorials may be made to the McKinney First Christian Church, 1800 West Hunt St. McKinney, TX 75069.
