Margaret Alice Jenkins peacefully departed this life on May 20, 2024, at the age of 91. She was born on July 18, 1932, in Gadsden, Alabama, to Asa Thompson and Odessa (Barker) Thompson.
On June 3, 1950, Margaret married Billy Ray Jenkins. Soon after they expanded their family with the births of their children, Freddie, Diane, Tonya, and Linda. Together, they shared 61 years of marriage, a testament to their long-lasting love and commitment.
Relocating from Alabama to McKinney, Texas, Margaret and Billy along with their children made Texas their forever home.
Margaret enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, camping and fishing trips with her family and friends, creating many unforgettable memories. Margaret had a knack for jigsaw puzzles, especially the challenging 700–1000-piece ones that she enjoyed completing with her sister, Zeaite. She also enjoyed her creativity through crocheting and knitting afghans, dolls clothes, cup cuzies, and animals for the grandchildren. She was an avid reader and enjoyed all types of books. She loved to talk about what she was reading and exchanged books with others.
Margaret was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her presence brought warmth and comfort to those around her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and will be missed dearly.
May her gentle soul rest in eternal peace.
Margaret is survived by her daughters, Diane McClellan-Clark and husband, Dennie of Rowlett, Texas, Tonya Ponder and husband, Kennith of Houston, Texas, and Linda Tomlinson and husband, James of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Misty, Shannan, Dana, and Dora; great-grandchildren, Patrick, Melinda, Clayton, Hunter, Lane, Caleb, Judah, Joshua, Jonathan, Evangeline, Elizabeth, and Jacob; and numerous other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Jenkins; parents, brothers, sisters and four grandchildren, Billy, Eddie, Matthew and Russ.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. Following the service, a procession will move to Ridgeview Memorial Park for a burial service.
The family will receive friends during a visitation on Wednesday morning one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
