Marcia Gould Frado passed away in Allen, TX on Monday, March 27, 2017. She was 81 years old. During the last two years as her health declined, she continually surprised her doctors and rallied. Her daughter told her she was a medical miracle because she was turning back the clock with each medical crisis.
Born in Newton on October 21, 1935, the daughter of James and Effie Dougan, she grew up in Newton and Waltham, MA. She met Ken Frado in 1954 and within 6 months, they were married. He was the only man she ever loved. Together they raised their three children (Kenny, Brenda and Rick) in Billerica, MA, Nashua, NH and Burlington, MA.
While raising her family, during the day she was a stay-at-home mom and worked nights part-time as a waitress. When the family moved to Burlington, she started her banking career at Woburn Five, then to Winchester Savings Bank and then to FDIC and traveled the country on business.
In 1995, she was offered a job in Dallas, so she and Ken moved to McKinney, TX. She thought she would eventually move back to Massachusetts, but fell in love with the warm weather and southern hospitality. Even after living in the south for over 20 years, she never lost her Boston accent and always introduced herself as “Maasha”.
She enjoyed reading, knitting and going to community theater productions. She loved to hear all about what was going on back in Massachusetts. Jokingly, she would call her daughter to say it was 55 degrees and so cold in TX knowing Boston was having a blizzard.
Besides her family, Marcia’s passions were sitting by the ocean, watching the waves and going on cruises. If you told her you would go on a cruise with her, her bags would be packed before the cruise was even booked. She loved being out on the ocean and getting waited on and pampered for seven days.
She was the loving mother to Kenneth R of McKinney, TX, Brenda McCluskey and husband Dan of Billerica, and Richard Frado and wife Tina of Celina, TX; proud grandmother to Michael and Kevin McCluskey of MA, Sean and Kenny Frado of TX and great-grandmother to Emily Frado of TX. She is also survived by her brother, Edward Dougan of Grants Pass, OR.
Marcia was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth J. Frado; and was also preceded in death by her brother, James Dougan.
Funeral services are under the direction of Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington (exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side).
The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 30, 2017, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
