IN LOVING MEMORY

Scott Latimer

Oct 28 1949 - Oct 30 2024

Scott Latimer, affectionately known as "Pops,” passed away peacefully on October 30, 2024, in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 75, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on October 28, 1949 in St. Louis, Missouri, to Aaron Lee Latimer and Bonnie Lee (Smith) Latimer. Pops spent his childhood in Missouri, where he developed a strong sense of community and family values. After graduating high school, he pursued a successful career in telecommunications, ultimately serving as Vice President of Sales. His professional journey allowed him to make lasting contributions to the industry, and he was respected for his leadership and integrity.

On July 21, 1978, Scott married Carolyn Elaine Latimer in Wayland, Iowa. Together, they built a life filled with love and cherished memories. Pops was a devoted father who always sought the best for his family, cherishing the moments they spent together.

Pops was fortunate to live fulfilling lives in Texas, Connecticut, and retired in Arkansas, where he continued to nurture his relationships and enjoy the beauty of nature. No matter where he was, he was known for his kind spirit, generous heart, and infectious sense of humor, always making everyone feel special.

He loved to laugh, enjoyed his weekly golf games with friends—where he and his companions would wager a quarter a round—and had a deep passion for music that brought everyone together. His impressive vinyl collection and talent for playing the horn and organ introduced his children to a wide array of musical genres, creating lasting memories filled with song.

As a devoted member of First Christian Church in Allen, Pops was deeply involved in his community and faith, contributing his time and energy to various church activities.

Pops is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Latimer; five children, Shauna Brogan, Trecia Quast and husband, Ted, Chris Latimer and wife, Jennifer, Jenny Taylor and husband, Bry and Stephen Latimer and wife, Julia; ten grandchildren—Allie Spann and husband, Steven, Tayler Quast, Hayley Taylor and husband, Preston, Sean Brogan, Caroline Tatum and husband, Jason, Grace Latimer, Maggie Brogan, Avery Latimer, Benjamin Latimer, and Eleanor Latimer; and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Lynn Queathem and husband, Dean and her family, along with numerous other loving family members and cherished friends.

Pops will forever be in our hearts, and he will be dearly missed.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on November 2, 2024, at the Historic Allen Christian Church, 450 East St. Mary Drive, Allen, Texas, 75002, with a reception to follow at the Taylor’s Residence, 1933 Pembroke Lane, McKinney Texas 75072 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
