Madian Chumbley

Madian Chumbley, age 92, of Allen, Texas went to be with the Lord on August 29, 2010. She was born July 4, 1918 in Loeb, Texas to Ira L. Stowe and Mattie (Carroll) Stowe. On August 20, 1938 Madian married Rev. Alton Leon Chumbley in Dallas, Texas. She graduated from Baylor University and attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. She retired from the McKinney Independent School District where she taught at L.A. Scott Junior High School. She was a charter member of Allen Heights Baptist Church. She was a teacher of the FIDELIS Sunday School class at First Baptist Church in Allen for many years. Madian was a pastor’s wife for fifty-eight years. She is survived by her son, Richard Chumbley and wife, Kay of Frisco, Texas; daughter, Pat Meza and husband, Richard of La Porte, Texas; grandchildren, Bobbi Kennedy and husband, Ricky, Tim Earnhart, Sue Osborne and husband, Robert, Sandi Green, Glyn Kennedy, Bart Meza and wife, Petra, Nancy Boyd and husband, John, Terry Chumbley and wife, Robin, Tracy Chumbley and wife, Courtney, Dana Chumbley, Trish Furr and husband, Matt; twenty-eight great-grandchildren, seventeen great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Mattie Stowe, husband, Rev. Alton Leon Chumbley; two brother and one sister. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at the First Baptist Church, Allen, Texas with Rev. Chad Selph officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park, Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Tuesday evening beginning at 6:30 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Allen, Texas.
