IN LOVING MEMORY

Madeleine L'Etoile Bedard

Sep 19 1934 - Feb 18 2021

Madeleine L’Etoile Bedard, age 86, of Plano, Texas, passed away February 18, 2021.  Madeleine was born September 19, 1934, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, to Oswald and Elizabeth (Chretien) L’Etoile.  She married Roland Bedard on September 5, 1955, in Central Falls, Rhode Island.

Madeliene was a graduate of Nursing School at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, MA in 1954. She had a long career in nursing, later specializing in psychiatric care and retired in 1994. She and Roland raised their family in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Virginia. They eventually retired in Spring Hill, FL for 20 years before moving to Texas in 2016 to be close to family.

Madeleine cherished her family and along with Roland raised six wonderful children. She took great pride in all of her children and guided, supported and advised them through life’s challenges. In 2014 Madeleine’s heart was broken when her oldest son, Mark suddenly died. Madeleine is in heaven with Mark now looking down upon her family.

Aside from spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends, Madeleine loved reading, knitting and cooking for her family. During her retirement, Madleine comprised a cookbook of all of her treasured recipes she prepared over the years so tradition can be carried on. Madeleine left a great legacy of family which she will always be remembered for.

Madeleine is survived by her loving husband, Roland Bedard; daughter, Diane Reed (husband, Peter); four sons, Dennis Bedard, Jeff Bedard (wife, Karen), Gary Bedard (wife, Kathy), and David Bedard (wife, Sophia); one brother, Roland L’Etoile; seventeen grandchildren, Jamie, Mary Beth, Daniel, Ann Marie, Christine, Michelle, Michael, Megan, Molly, Addison, Ashley, Aidan, Jonathan, Matthew, Timothy, Cassie, and Kelly; and 6 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by one son, Mark Bedard (wife, Bonnie); one brother, Archie L’Etoile; and one sister Julie St. Jean (husband, Bernie).

A memorial service will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 8000 Eldorado Parkway, Frisco, Texas, on Friday, June 25, 2021, at 11:00 a.m.
