Mack Smothermon, age 77 of Navo, Texas went to be with the Lord on August 20, 2018. Mack was born on October 5, 1940, at the family farm in Eastern Denton County, in the small community of Navo. His parents were Horace Leonard Smothermon and Virginia Ann Witt Smothermon.
Mack went to college at NTSU for a little while but soon returned home to farming on a large scale. After he retired from farming, he carried the mail for the Little Elm Post Office for many years. In the early days, you could find him playing dominos at the Navo Store and later in life he liked to play poker. Mack had a passion for the Lord, tractors, cracking jokes and anything his grandkids did. Mack instilled the importance of God in all his children by attending church on a regular basis. The legacy he left his family was teaching them to help everybody and be kind.
He is survived by four children, Johnny Smothermon and his wife, Christine of Collinsville, Texas, Kara-Lea Smothermon Hamilton and her husband, Hugh, of Sadler, Texas, Dana Smothermon Boyd and her husband, Bobby, of The Colony, Texas, and Michael Smothermon of Prosper, Texas; five grandchildren, Kasey Hamilton, Kaden Smothermon, Wyatt Smothermon, Grayson Smothermon, and Jaxson Smothermon.
Mack is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Virginia Smothermon; his sister, Ada Pearl Marion; brothers, Grady Smothermon and Benny Smothermon.
Family and Friends are invited to visitation on Saturday, August 25, 2018, at Expedition Church, 9073 Berkshire Drive, Frisco, Texas 75033, beginning at 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. The Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 p.m., with Brother Scott Sides officiating. Interment will follow at Little Elm Cemetery.
