Mabel Lois Rutledge of McKinney, Texas passed away September 25, 2017 at the age of 92. She was born May 13, 1925 to William Irby Heifner and Pearl (Jones) Heifner in Lucas, Texas. Mabel married Eulan Rutledge on April 4, 1942 in McKinney, Texas. She was a founding member and charter member of the Community North Baptist Church. Mabel was recently honored for her long tenure and tireless efforts in bringing two churches together and forming Community North Baptist Church. Mabel loved and cherished her family deeply. Her hobbies included cooking, quilting, knitting, and crocheting. Mabel enjoyed water aerobics until she became recently ill. She made custom drapes for some of the most influential homes in McKinney area. Mabel taught Sunday school for many years and at the age of 60, she learned to play the piano.
She is survived by her son, Jerry Rutledge and wife Vicki, of Bastrop, Texas; daughter, Brenda Sanders of Bonham, Texas; grandchildren, James Rutledge and wife Cheryl of Round Rock, Texas, David Rutledge also of Round Rock, Alan Reaves, of Bonham, Texas, Chad Reaves and wife Misty also of Bonham, and Emily Dinverno and husband Alex of Lucas, Texas; eleven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Dorothy Furr of Garland, Texas.
Mabel was preceded in death by her husband, Eulan Rutledge (1997); brothers, Linus Heifner, Ethard Heifner, Weldon Heifner, Charles Ray Heifner; sisters, Margie Morgan, Leona Heifner; and son-in-law’s, Tommy Reaves, and Doug Sanders.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. Interment is to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
