Lynn Katherine Laursen Lentscher, age 78, passed away peacefully at her home in Celina, Texas, on January 5, 2024.
She was born December 4, 1945, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to parents EJ and Esther Laursen. Lynn was a competitive swimmer, enjoyed water ballet and was a proud Alpha Phi. Following college, she was a popular English teacher at the local high school.
Lynn and husband Chuck, relocated to Dallas, Texas in 1977; here they raised their 3 children. She actively participated in competitive tennis at Prestonwood Country Club and was notably the Women’s Singles Champion. She also played in a co-ed softball league and enjoyed swimming and tanning with her children and friends.
Lynn transitioned into the workforce in 1985 with a brief stint as a realtor, which propelled her to her ultimate career in the title industry. Calling on agents as a marketing representative for many years, Lynn would eventually join Republic Title as the Vice President of Marketing. Winning several industry awards and recognitions, she thoroughly enjoyed, and excelled at, coaching, mentoring and educating.
One of her proudest moments was being awarded the distinguished Mother of the Year award by the DallasCan! Academy, a non-profit organization close to her heart.
In 1998, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She won this battle and remained cancer-free for the remainder of her life. Guided by her experiences and her faith, Lynn would become a founding member and future president of Be the Difference, a foundation dedicated to raising ovarian cancer awareness.
Her most valued treasure was her family. She loved nothing more than having the kids and grandkids over for a day of games and laughter. Lynn lit up every room she entered; her strength, wisdom and compassion radiated from her. She lovingly shared all that she had. Her life was one that truly was well lived.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Chuck Lentscher, daughter Kim Lay (husband Bradley, son Austin), son Chad Lentscher, daughter Erin Tapken, grandchildren Charlie Tapken Finch (husband Reid), Parker Tapken and Tyler Tapken.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at First United Methodist Church, 12465 FM428, Celina, Texas 75009.
