Lular Beatrice “Pat” Gunter was born on February 8, 1930 in Vandervoort, Arkansas to Basil Ulmont Griffith and Lular O. Barton Griffith. She went to her heavenly home on July 6, 2021 at the age of 91 years.
Pat’s family moved to Utica, Oklahoma in 1937 and then from there they moved to Whitewright, Texas in 1945. She met the love of her life Frank Rayburn Gunter and was married on January 17, 1948. They had a long happy married life until his death on October 25, 1993.
They loved to take vacations and travelled to many states. Their favorite ones were Washington and Oregon. Pat had several relatives there. They also loved to go to the ocean and play on the beach and stay in a motel on the ocean side and listen to the roar of the ocean at night and go up in the mountains.
She worked at the Whitewright Sewing Factory for 27 years and left there and went on to Texas Instruments and retired from there in 1991.
She was a member of Hebron Baptist church.
She is survived by son, Kenneth Gunter of Denison; grandson, Frank Gunter and wife Amanda of Gainesville; great-grandson, Aaron Blasingame; great-granddaughters, Amber Shrum and Katie Blasingame; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 3 brothers; 3 sisters; daughter-in-law, Beverly Gunter; 2 brothers-in-law; 1 sister-in-law; great-great-niece Lisa Potter; great-nephew, Robert Griffith.
Graveside Services will be held 11AM Friday, July 9, 2021 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Whitewright, Texas. Rev. Russell Clemons will officiate. A visitation will be held 6-8PM Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Whitewright, Texas.
