Lucy Bowen Hickman of Plano, Texas passed away June 16, 2022 at the age of 79.  She was born on October 7, 1942 to Allen Edward Bowen and Romell Margaret (Coefield) Bowen in Heflin, Alabama.  Lucy was a graduate of Chamblee High School.  She earned her Bachelor of Art in Education from Shorter College in Rome, Georgia.  Lucy taught high school English at Tucker High School in Tucker, Georgia where she met Douglas Ray Hickman who was a science teacher.  She married Doug on December 17, 1967 in Chamblee, Georgia, then became a fastidious homemaker and they enjoyed 33 years of marriage before his passing in 2000. Lucy was active in her daughter’s school and her extracurricular activities.  She was also an active member of Fellowship Bible Church North in Plano.  Lucy was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend.  She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

Lucy is survived by her daughter, Dr. Ashley Zink and husband, Christopher of Dallas, Texas; sister, Theresa Bowen of Lawrenceville, Georgia; brother, Michael Bowen of Marietta, Georgia; many other loving relatives, friends, and former care givers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Doug Hickman and her parents, Allen and Romell Bowen.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.  Following the service, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park for a committal service.

Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Tuesday to pay their respects and to sign the register book.
