Loye H. Terhune

Loye H. Terhune, age 94, of Mount Vernon, Texas, passed away quietly of natural causes on Friday, August 31, 2007, at Mt. Vernon, Texas. He was born April 2, 1914, in Shelbyville, Kentucky, to Estell H. and Virginia (Lee) Terhune. Loye was a longtime resident of New Albany, Indiana, Houston, Texas, Plano, Texas, and most recently lived at the Mount Vernon House in Mount Vernon, Texas. On March 28, 1937, he married Christine Bunnell in Lanesville, Indiana. Loye served his country in 1943 in the US Navy Seabee Atlantic Group. To know Loye was to ove him. He was often referred to as “What a great guy!” He loved the Lord and served him faithfully all the days of his life. Loye was a member of First United Methodist Church of Plano, Texas. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge in Albany, Indiana and was a Shriner in Houston, Texas. He is survived by his faithful loving wife of seventy years, Christine Terhune; son, Gale Terhune and his wife Fran of Mount Vernon, Texas; granddaughter, Lora King and her husband Edward of Lugoff, South Carolina; and great-grandchildren, Jesse and Krystal. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, September 2, 2007, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Saturday to pay their respects and to sign the register book.
