IN LOVING MEMORY

Louis Philip LaRocque

May 18 1934 - Feb 21 2024

Louis Philip LaRocque, (89) passed away late evening of Wednesday, February 21, 2024.  Louis has lived in McKinney, Texas for the past three years with his wife Hedwig.

Louis Philip LaRocque was born May 18, 1934, in Walhalla, North Dakota, the son of Philip and Alberta LaRocque. Growing up Louis loved to play hockey. He worked as a newspaper boy during his High School years.

After graduating from high school, Louis studied radio electronics at North Dakota State College of Science, earning his associate degree in 1957. During this time, he met the love of his life, Hedwig Marie Duckwitz, of Hebron North Dakota. Louis enlisted in the U.S. Army in May 1957. While in the military, Louis married Hedwig, on December 28, 1957, in Walhalla, North Dakota. Louis was stationed at Fort Bliss, in El Paso Texas, where he was honorably discharged May 27, 1960.  Louis started working for the United States Border Patrol in El Paso, Texas on July 7, 1960. He enjoyed his work, especially being able to work outdoors building towers, radio and microwave communication stations.  He was admired by his coworkers and became known as the Procurator Rex for his resourcefulness at procuring equipment. He retired as Director of Communications in 1996.

Outside of his work Louis enjoyed making lamps and furniture pieces with his woodworking skills. He loved to read novels and going to Band and Orchestra concerts to listen to his sons play their instruments. Our Dad was a great provider and family man, playing ball with us and helping us with our homework. He taught us right from wrong and raised us to be good loving people. He had such a comical wit that kept us laughing and full of joy. He was a kind and gentle man!

Louis is survived by his wife of 66 years, Hedwig Marie LaRocque; son, Phil LaRocque and his wife Tracy of Leonard, Texas; son, David LaRocque and his wife Amie LaRocque of El Paso, Texas; son, Brian LaRocque and his wife Michele of Fort Worth, Texas; seven grandchildren, Landon LaRocque, Lauren LaRocque, Emilie LaRocque, Abbie LaRocque, Mollie LaRocque, Emma LaRocque, and Annelise LaRocque and two great grandchildren, Brenna LaRocque and Layden LaRocque.
