Louie David Sullivan, of Franklin, Texas passed away on August 17, 106, at the age of 94. He was born on March 5, 1922, in Belton, South Carolina, to James Alvan and Mae Illa (Hancock) Sullivan. On February 23, 1941, he married Melba Louise Hamm in McKinney, Texas where they lived many years before moving to Franklin. Louie was a member of First Baptist Church in Franklin, Texas.
He was a wonderful human being, husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friends. By trade he was a very talented tool and die maker. He was also an ordained Baptist preacher and Sunday school teacher. Louie loved his God, family and country. He served in World War II in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Franks and authored the book "Memories of World War II" by Louie David Sullivan, Sr.
Louie is survived by his grandson, Louie David Sullivan, III of El Paso, Texas; great-granddaughter, Crystal Sullivan of El Paso, Texas; as well as his granddaughter, Amber Dawn Sullivan-Pashon and her children; sister, Barbara Sullivan Rollins; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Louie is preceded in death by his parents, James A. and Mae Illa Sullivan; beloved wife, Melba Sullivan; son, Louie David Sullivan, II; and siblings, Roy Howard Sullivan, Mary Phillips Kruger, Mildred Edwards, Reese Bobby Sullivan, Dan Sullivan, Paul Norman Sullivan and Sybil Irene Sullivan.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas, with Tommy Westbrook officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during a visitation being held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.
