Lothar Edward (Ed) Berg, Jr., born January 4, 1942 and longtime resident of Frisco, Texas passed away peacefully in his home on August 31, 2010 after a five year battle with cancer. He was 68 years old. He was born and raised in Dallas, Texas where he graduated from W. W. Samuell High School. Ed attended Texas A & M University where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets, and later The University of North Texas, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Technology. He was a Captain in the United States Air Force where he served for eight years, including the Vietnam War. Subsequently, he enjoyed a long career in the insurance industry, specializing in the areas of life and casualty, including certification as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP). After his retirement from New England Financial, he became co-owner of Kap’s Pepper Company. His interests included classical music and literature, traveling and baseball. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lothar and Martha Berg. He is survived by Janice McMinn Berg, his wife of 46 years, and his children, Nicette Guenther (Peter), Michelle Cassano (Brian), Erica Berg, and April Berg, all of Frisco, Texas; his grandchildren, Kennedy and Georgia Guenther, and Connor and Owen Cassano, also of Frisco; his siblings, Nicette Humphreys of The Woodlands, Texas, Diane Berg and Robert Berg, both of Dallas; and in-laws, Loye and Maxine McMinn of Corpus Christi, Texas. Friends and family are invited to attend a Visitation service to be held on Wednesday, September 1st from 3-5pm, with funeral services held on Thursday, September 2nd at 10am. Both services will be held at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, located at 8520 Main St. in Frisco. Internment following funeral service at Ridgeview Cemetery. The family has requested that donations be made to ManeGait, which is a therapeutic horseback riding facility in McKinney, Texas.
