IN LOVING MEMORY

Lorine Dennington

Feb 10 1931 - Jan 19 2016

Euda Lorine Dennington, 84, was welcomed into the presence of Jesus on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at her home in Lewisville, TX. Lorine was born in Osceola, Arkansas on February 10, 1931 to Frank and Hattie Edge. She was raised in Parma, MO where she met and married the love of her life, Dean Dennington, on December 28, 1952. They shared their 62 years together in Texas, Kansas and Missouri.

The words “devoted wife, mother, and grandmother” can’t begin to describe the impact Lorine had on her family, friends, and community. She encouraged, championed, supported, looked after, lit fires under and fanned flames within, enriching the lives of everyone her life brushed up against. On any given day, Lorine was a chauffeur, chef, or cheerleader. She endured countless recitals, sports contests, plays and concerts, kidnapped her soul mate for surprise getaways, kept the kitchen pantry stocked and unlocked for visiting grandbabies, hosted hooky-playing high schoolers for lunch, and took far too much delight in throwing the Queen of Hearts on those she loved. She was an avid reader, the 1948 Cotton Boll Queen (no, it’s not a typo), and held firmly to the belief that, “there’s nothing like a chocolate chip cookie with a Slim Fast chaser.”

But most of all, Lorine’s life was marked by care and compassion and hospitality and a huge welcoming spirit. She sat with strangers in hospital rooms, ran errands for those in need, prepared meals for the sick or grieving, welcomed newcomers to the neighborhood, and worked hard to make her home a place of love, security, encouragement, and honor. For everyone.

Lorine is survived by her children Gary (Monica) Dennington of Phoenix, AZ, Gregg (Eva) Dennington of Toufen, Taiwan and Deborah Dennington of Lewisville, TX, her sister, Frances Fisher of Nashville, TN, her brother, James W. Edge of Malden, MO, her grandchildren Alyssa, Erica, Abigail, China and Harrison, and her great-grandchildren Emma, Zoe, Claire, Mia and Aryn. In addition to her husband and parents, Lorine was preceded in death by her grandson, Eryn Dennington.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you send donations to the Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead in Overland Park, KS.

A memorial service will be held at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Frisco, TX on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 10:00 AM.
