Lola Mae Flanagan (Cooper), 90, passed away surrounded by her family on January 27, 2024, in Leonard, Texas. She was born on February 21, 1933, to Hubert Miller Cooper and Fannie Lou (Wheat) Cooper in Delba, Texas. She married Floyd Spencer Flanagan on October 4, 1952, and adopted their daughter, Christy Ann in August 1971.
Lola was a homemaker and enjoyed working in her garden and flower beds. She loved sewing, shopping, and traveling. She and Floyd were ranchers for many years, and she loved cattle and watching them graze peacefully in the pasture around the house.
She was a member of the Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ in Leonard, Texas. Her family was her joy, and she loved her Lord and her church. If you were with her any amount of time, she would be talking about her love for them. She was someone who people went to for advice and words of wisdom for whatever they might be going through in life.
Lola will be remembered by her daughter, Christy Ann Simmons and husband, Eddie of Leonard, Texas; grandson, Caleb Simmons and wife, Abby, of Leonard, Texas; granddaughters, Kelcie Alexiou and husband, Andros, of Coupeville, Washington, and Natalie Maxwell and husband, Rudy, of Nashville, Tennessee; 4 great grandchild, Evelyn Simmons, Jack Simmons, Lucy Simmons, and Elias Alexiou; sister, Johnnie Burchfield of Leonard, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her husband, Floyd Spencer Flanagan; parents, Hubert and Fannie Lou Cooper; brothers, Kenneth Cooper, James Cooper, Ronnie Cooper, and Billy Cooper; and sisters, Hattie White and Rosie Weaver.
The family will welcome guests at a visitation from 6-8 PM, Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home, 701 North Cedar Street, Leonard, Texas 75452. A funeral service officiated by Pastor Joseph Johnson, will be held at 10 AM, Friday, February 2, 2024, at the Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ, 107 North Elm Street, Leonard, Texas 75452. After the service, there will be a procession to Leonard Cemetery for burial. Pallbearers for Lola’s service are Caleb Simmons, Rudy Maxwell, Andros Alexiou, Cliff Wright, Marty Mitchell, Craig Flanagan, and Mark Cooper.
