Lois S. Rau, 100, of Allen, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on June 28, 2024.
Born on September 15, 1923, in Buffalo, New York, Lois was the daughter of the late Bruce and Carolyn (Clayton)Steinhoff. She grew up in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and graduated from high school there. Lois attended Florida State College for Women and was President of her freshman class. After college, she moved to New York City to pursue an acting career but instead became a well-known John Robert Powers model. She used the name Lois Brewster professionally.
Lois married the late Frederick E. Rau, May 6th, 1945 and they were lucky to have celebrated 63 years with each other. Together, they raised two children and enjoyed a life full of adventure with many moves across the country. Lois was a homemaker, an avid golfer, loved music and the theater, and was an active member of the community. Volunteering with the Assistance League, Christ United Methodist Church, and Newcomers Club.
Her gentle spirit will live on through the many lives she touched. Most of all she loved her family and will be dearly missed but forever in our hearts.
She is survived by her daughter, Kim (Mike) Spry, of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Rachel (Jason) King, Fred (Carolee) Rau, Mark Rau, Scott Spry and Kevin (Megan) Spry; 13 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; son, Ronald (Rusty) Rau; and sister, Phyllis Jones.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Grand Brook Memory Care of Allen who made her final years happy and comfortable.
