Lloyd Stanley Sykes of Garland, Texas passed away on August 27, 2018 at the age of 82. He was born on November 13, 1935 to Marion and Birdella (Carroll) Sykes in Allen, Texas. Lloyd married Elizabeth Ann Dobson on May 25, 1968 in Phoenix, Arizona. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Lloyd was a mechanic for Richardson ISD. He was an avid outdoorsman and an excellent guitarist. Lloyd was a member of Northlake Baptist Church in Garland. He was a loving and caring husband and father.
Lloyd is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Elizabeth Sykes of Garland, Texas; sons, Rick Sykes and wife, Tonda of Mansfield, Texas and Mark Sykes and wife, Karen of College Station, Texas; grandsons, Geoffrey Sykes, Andrew Sykes, Daniel Estes and Cody Estes; granddaughters, Katherine Sykes, Victoria Sykes, Emily Sykes, Leslie Williams, Katelyn Estes, Katrina Estes and Emma Estes; three great-grandchildren; niece, Linda Casillas; nephews, David Phares and Donald Phares; and numerous other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Birdella Sykes; and his sisters, Elsie Ruth Phares and Robbie Joyce Surles.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 31, 2018 at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
