Lloyd Ray Merritt

Lloyd Ray Merritt, born on November 4, 1939, in Quemado, Texas, went on to be with the Lord on December 24, 2019.

He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Judith Anderson Merritt; daughter, Sheryl Burns of Frisco, Texas; and son, Steven Merritt of Old Fort, North Carolina; six grandchildren, Stephanie Burns, Derek Burns, Carrington Cone, Chandler Cone, Tyler Burns and Marlee Merritt; and three great-grandchildren, Ava Foster, Olivia Burns and Harrison Cone.  Preceded in death by his father, George Merritt; mother, Carrie Merritt; four brothers, George Jr., Bobby Jay, Larry Dewayne and Marvin Doyle Merritt.

Lloyd retired from the United States Air Force with twenty years of service in 1978 and worked over twelve years for WalMart until retiring in 2008.  He served as music leader for several small churches over the years and enjoyed leading gospel sing-alongs at many senior communities in the local area.  He leaves behind many close relatives and friends.  He was a member of the Family of God and he is waiting for us there.

A memorial service will be held at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 8520 Main Street, Frisco, Texas, on Tuesday, December 31, 2019, at 10:30 a.m., officiated by Pastor Larry Megason, with visitation one hour prior beginning at 9:30 a.m.  A private interment will follow at Burns Cemetery in Trenton, Texas.
