Lloyd Luther Barnes

Lloyd L. Barnes, 93, of Frisco, Texas, passed away January 23, 2011. He was born May 19, 1917 in Fort Worth, Texas, to Luther Emmett and Roberta Barnes. He graduated from Paschal High School in 1935 and was a member of Sagamore Hill Baptist Church, Fort Worth for most of his life. Lloyd worked at Williamson-Dickie Manufacturing Company for 47 years until his retirement in 1983. Lloyd served in WW II as a 1st Lt. Flight Instructor in the Army Air Corp and flew B-17s. He loved sailing, building boats, hunting, traveling and photography and led an adventurous life. Lloyd moved with his wife, Alberta Barnes to Key Allegro Island, Rockport, Texas in 1983. He was active in the Key Allegro Men’s Club, Texas Maritime Museum and he was President of the Key Allegro Condominiums for multiple terms and enjoyed working with all the owners. Lloyd was married to Alberta for 58 loving years. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents. He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Bond and son-in-law, Larry Bond of Frisco, Texas; one son, Steve Barnes and daughter-in-law, Robin Barnes of North Richland Hills, Texas; 6 grandchildren, Christi Richter and husband David Richter of Pflugerville, Texas; Cathi Bond of Frisco, Texas; Amanda Bowes and husband Cory Bowes of Carrollton, Texas; Travis Barnes of Dallas, Texas, Susan LaCroix of Haslet, Texas, Matt LaCroix of Hurst, Texas; 6 great grandchildren, Christopher, Michael, Ashley and Joey Richter of Pflugerville, Texas, Kanayda Fiero of Camarillo, California, and Darren Bowes of Carrollton, Texas; niece, Ann Ellinghausen and husband Bob of Tularosa, New Mexico and nephew Jim Shelton and wife Leslie of Dallas, Texas. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church, 801 E. Main Street, Rockport, TX 78382.
