Lingfeng Lu was born on April 1, 1972 in Wuhan, Hubei province, China. His parents were professors at Huazhong University of Science and Technology. He grew up with his loving parents and sister, and at a very young age he already knew how to be caring toward others. At school, he excelled academically and showed leadership. When he was thirteen, he met the love of his life and began a 36-year journey of romance. After graduating high school, they attended the same university and went on to work in Guangdong after graduation.
Lingfeng has always loved new challenges. In 1996, he came to the US and enrolled at the University of Rolla to pursue his master’s degree. During this time period, he joined the Rolla Student Fellowship. In 1998, he and his loving wife both accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior and were baptized on June 25, 1999.
During his 23 years of being Christian, Lingfeng pursued God, experienced temptation from the world to turn away from God, but by the grace of God returned as the prodigal son to Him. After this experience of grace and hearing God’s call, Lingfeng rededicated his life to God along with his loving wife.
In 2018 Lingfeng was diagnosed with lung cancer. He seized every minute of every day to serve the Lord and His people, draw closer to Him, and to be shaped by Him. The teachings he always wanted his three children to remember is from Joshua 24:15 and 18, which says that “as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” and “therefore we also will serve the Lord, for he is our God.”
Throughout his life Lingfeng loved the Lord and all people. He was the best head of his family, the best husband to his wife, the best father to his children, the best son to his parents, the best brother to his sister, and the best brother to his fellow brothers and sisters in the church.
Lingfeng was taken back to his heavenly home peacefully by the Lord on July 7, 2021, leaving all people in his life with countless sweet memories. Before he left, he said to his family: “I am going to see the Lord Jesus and prepare a place for you”. He is dearly missed, but we all know that in the near future he will welcome us with his signature smile at the gate of heaven!
