IN LOVING MEMORY

Linda Lee Schottel-Lehde

Jan 16 1947 - Sep 02 2022

Linda Lee Schottel-Lehde passed away September 2, 2022, in Plano, Texas at the age of 75. She was born to Ernest Marion and Dorothy Gutherie (Readman) Davis on January 16, 1947, in Kansas City, Missouri.

While Linda spent most of her youth in Kansas City, she also spent several years in Japan where her father was stationed after World War II. After her parents divorced, Linda became one of the primary caretakers for her younger brother Patrick and helped her stepmother, Eltha “Shorty” Verlene Davis raise him. Linda graduated from North Kansas High School in 1965, and later met Lloyd Gene Schottel at the local YMCA where he was staying. They were married shortly after in 1966, and welcomed their first child into the world, Tammy Lynn, followed by Kimberly Ann, both of whom passed away at a young age. Despite these early tragedies, Linda and Lloyd persevered and later welcomed children Matthew Lloyd and Brandi Lee. From a young adult age, Linda worked in the insurance industry, taking night classes to earn her CPCU while working full time and raising her children. She started as a broker and retired as an Associate Vice President for AMWINS insurance. In 1997, Linda married Michael Warren Lehde. Around the time of their marriage, Linda and Michael moved to Frisco, Texas where they built a house and a life together, starting anew in a city where they had very few ties.

Even through all her work, Linda’s devotion to her family never waned or wavered. Linda was the rock of her family, the first one to be at someone’s side in sickness, and the first to welcome them home from life’s trials. Her willingness to help in any matter was never questioned, and the love for her family never doubted.

Linda is survived by her son, Matthew Lloyd Schottel and daughter-in-law Stephanie Shannon Schottel of Seabrook, Texas; daughter, Brandi Lee Schottel, Ph.D. of Washington, D.C.; granddaughter, Fiona Rae Schottel of Seabrook, Texas; brother, Patrick Michael Davis of Shawnee, Kansas; and sister-in-law, Linda Brennan of Lincoln, Nebraska.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Warren Lehde; daughters, Tammy Lynn and Kimberly Ann Schottel; parents, Ernest Marion and Dorothy Gutherie Davis; brother, Dennis Mayne Davis; and stepmother, Eltha Verlene Davis.
