On Sunday, June 8, 2025, Linda Inglis ran into the arms of Jesus. Though she had recently overcome breast cancer, an undetected bile duct cancer quickly and unexpectedly took her life. Linda was a multiple-time cancer survivor, but cancer never defined her, could never stop her, and it certainly never defeated her. She had full faith that her days were determined and numbered by the Lord, not any disease, and she lived life to the full.
Linda loved Jesus deeply, and that love overflowed into the way she cared for people. Her sense of humor and her genuine care were evident to all. She was a master at knowing people's names, remembering their stories, and genuinely caring for them. She lived with the conviction that everyone matters and everyone needs Jesus.
Her husband, Rogers, was the love of her life. Married for 55 years, she loved him and devoted herself wholly to him. Pictures show their traveling adventures. Stories recount their favorite times together, but her love for him wasn’t best seen in pictures or heard in stories. Her love was best seen in how she longed to be with him and care for him through his battle with Parkinson's disease. Recent years have required that they live apart, but her heart was and will be forever linked to his.
She loved her kids and was their number one cheerleader. Kristi, Mike, and Tresha treasured their relationship with their mom because she was always there for them as they grew up and was with them throughout life and adulthood. They will greatly miss her prayers, the long phone calls, the reminders that everything will be OK, and the ways she loved each of them individually.
Linda was a source of wisdom and fun for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. To them, she was Gran. The one who pulled them all together for fun times and to focus on Jesus. She was always just a phone call or a visit away when needed. She was a trusted voice and a friend to each of them.
In her final days, Linda encouraged each of her kids to live their lives loving Jesus and sharing His love. “Take as many with you as you can” was her final charge. Even in the face of death, she wanted to share the life that Jesus offers.
Linda is survived by her husband, James Rogers Inglis of McKinney; Kristi (Mike) Hurt of Victoria; Tresha (Andy) McKnight of Romania; and Mike (Laurie) Inglis of Whitewright. She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Morgan (Zach), Nick (Caroline), Dylan, Leah, Bekah, Luke(Carrie), Josiah and Lili—and her great-grandchildren, Weston and Elijah. Her legacy of love, faith, and joy will live on through every life she touched.
A memorial service to celebrate Jesus and remember Linda will be held August 2, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Preston Community Church in Pottsboro Texas. The family will receive guests for a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.
