Linda Gale Herring passed away December 3, 2023 in McKinney, Texas at the age of 83. She was born to Emil Harold and Fern (Thornton) Timian on January 27, 1940 in Littlefield, Texas.
Linda grew up in Lubbock, Texas where she graduated from Lubbock Monterrey High School in 1958. She met the love of her life, Rev. Mel Herring and married him on July 15, 1961. They went on to have 4 children and served several Lutheran churches in Texas and one in Oklahoma.
She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Stephen F. Austin State University with a bachelor’s degree in education in 1981. She worked as a teacher in various districts from 1982 until she retired in 2006. Linda was a published author and accomplished musician who loved playing various instruments. She was also a member of the Houston Lutheran Chorale where she was an alto.
Linda is survived by her children, Leigh Carreon and husband, Carlo of The Woodlands, Texas, Mark Herring and wife, Jacquelene of Ceres, California, Sarah Claburn and husband, Mark of Mansfield, Texas, and Rachel Brownlee and husband, John of Lucas, Texas; grandchildren, Megan, Emily, Elizabeth, Christian, Andrew, Alishia, Jacob, Kathleen, Alexandra, Allison, and Anna; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and recently her sister, Janice Stohlman on October 29, 2023.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 15, 2023 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Plano, Texas. The family will receive guests for a visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. Interment will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Davis-Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg, Texas.
