Lexie Christine (Chapman) VanHoose of Frisco, Texas, passed away on April 23, 2021, at the age of 99. She was born on February 4, 1922 to John Sheridan Chapman and Ocie Myrtle (Preston) Chapman in Georges Creek, Kentucky. Christine attended school in Georges Creek before she married Reginald Gordon VanHoose on December 14, 1940 in Louisa, Kentucky. Shortly after, they moved to Mutual, Ohio where they lived in the same house for over 50 years. Christine was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Mechanicsburg, Ohio as well as a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She was a Sunday School teacher at the Mutual Methodist Church in Ohio for over 28 years. Christine was an excellent seamstress and served many members of her community with their sewing needs. She was also an avid reader and never met someone she didn’t like.
Christine is survived by her son, Rodney VanHoose and wife, Janet; 2 grandchildren, Rex William VanHoose and wife, Amy and Holly Nichole Reece and husband, Mike; 5 great-grandchildren, Catherine VanHoose, Vance Moncier, Elizabeth VanHoose, Ryan VanHoose and Emma Reece; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Myrtle Chapman; husband, Reginald “Dick” VanHoose; and 5 siblings, Gertrude Jordan, Homer Chapman, Kenneth Chapman, Dimple Daniel and Garland Chapman.
A “come and go” visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home. Only a limited number of guests will be allowed to enter the funeral home facility at any one time to maintain social distancing.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Ridgeview Memorial Park Pavilion, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas.
