Lester Lee Stanley

Mar 08 1929 - Jul 13 2010

Lester Lee Stanley, of McKinney, Texas (formerly Granbury, Texas) passed away on July 14, 2010. He was born the fifth of eight children on March 8, 1929 in Geneva, Indiana to Cora and Delmer Stanley. Les graduated from high school in Geneva, Indiana and worked fro 26 years for The Franklin Electric Company. After his retirement in 1991, he moved from Bluffton, Indiana to Granbury, Texas where he met wife-to-be Pat in 1997 at a weekly dance for seniors. They married in 1998. Les never saw a baby or an animal that didn't delight his and despite his favorite joke - asked "how are you?" he'd invariably reply "tired and irritable" - he was in truth cheerful, generous with hugs and ready to do most anything Pat suggested. Les and Pat both enjoyed their many friends at the First Presbyterian Church of Granbury and particularly liked the dances and trips made with the Granbury Senior Circle. Although their travels took them worldwide, Les' favorite destinations were to his school reunions in Geneva and the Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming, where he and Pat spent many happy summers together. He is survived by his wife, Pat Stanley of McKinney; children, Rick and wife, Barbara of Riverside, California, Barry of Geneva, Indiana and Tonya and husband, Dave of Geneva, Indiana; three stepsons and their wives; four grandsons; one step-grandson; six great-granddaughters; two sisters, Gloria Stringer of Granbury and Flora Elliott and her husband Dave of Lumberton, Texas and a host of friends. Les is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Calvin and John and his sisters, Jean Huffman, Viola McGough and Nema Hart. A Memorial Service will be held at 12 noon on Monday, July 19, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church of Granbury.
