Leroy Richardson

On June 15, 2005, Leroy Richardson went to be with his Lord and Savior. He was born on November 6, 1911 in Blue Ridge, Texas the oldest son of Ralph and Martha Richardson. He married Niles White on May 26, 1934 in Phackerville, Oklahoma. Mr. Richardson was Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Red Cross, Salvation Army, and Rockwall Boy Scouts, all of Collin County. He was President of the McKinney Lions Club, the Board of Directors at the McKinney Country Club for two years as well as the Collin County Unit of TSTA. He taught school for two years at White Rock, twelve years at Melissa and was Assistant County Superintendent from 1950-1958. He was then elected to the position of County Superintendent in 1958 and served until 1978. He was a wonderful man, a compassionate educator, a true Christian and will be sorely missed by all who were lucky enough to have known him. He is survived by his sister, Barbara Campbell and his brother, Bill Richardson, Sr., as well as by many nieces, nephews and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Niles White Richardson, as well as by his parents, his brother, Jesse and sisters Dorothy and Vivian. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, June 17, 2005 at the First Christian Church with Rev. Richard Russell officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
