Leonard Joseph Voeller

Leonard Voeller of McKinney, Texas passed into eternal life on November 22, 2021. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Leonard was born on March 1, 1933, to Joseph and Gertrude (Reinbold) Voeller in Rugby, North Dakota. He was married on January 8, 1955, to the love of his life Sally.

Leonard joined the Navy after graduating from Rugby High School. After his discharge from the Navy, he began his career with Superior Gunite, a company that constructed in ground pools. Leonard had the opportunity to install the pool Gunite for a few entertainment icons including Liberace, Jane Mansfield, and Shirley McClain. After leaving Superior Gunite, he joined California Gunite Co. Inc. He was an employee for eighteen years and then became an owner of the company, until his retirement in 1983.

Upon retirement, he moved to Hesperia, California, where he and Sally enjoyed time with friends and a part time Antique Furniture business, which gave him the opportunity to travel and attend auctions to find beautiful furniture that he sometimes re-furbished himself to put in their showrooms or decorate their home. In 2005, they relocated to McKinney Texas. In McKinney, they enjoyed their time with family, a wonderful neighborhood of friends, as well as their St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church community of parishioners and friends.

Leonard was a loving, and proud man who took tremendous pride and joy from his twenty grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren.

Leonard is survived by daughters, Bonita Heidelman and husband, Jim of McKinney, Texas, Carleen Lenassi and husband, Mark of Suffolk, Virginia, Jeanine Cherry and husband, Rory of Mt. Vernon, Texas, and Kathleen Levesque of Vancouver, Washington; son, Scott Voeller of Henderson, Nevada; twenty grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; brothers, Donald Voeller and wife, Sally of Fargo, North Dakota, John Voeller and wife, Shirley of Rugby, North Dakota; sister, Linda Heinrich of Loveland Colorado; and numerous other loving family and friends.

Leonard was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Ann Voeller; daughter, Roseanne Heisser; parents, Joseph and Gertrude Voeller; sister, Mary Ann Fitzgerald and husband Joe; and brother-in-law, John Heinrich.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00am, Friday January 21, 2022, at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church, 110 St. Gabriel Way, McKinney, Texas 75071. Interment will follow at 1:15pm, Friday, January 21, 2022, at Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday January 20, 2022, from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. A rosary service will begin at 6:30pm.

Memorial donations are welcome in lieu of flowers and may be made in Leonard’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital www.stjude.org or a charity of your choice.
