Leokadia Sanniola

May 14 1950 - Nov 06 2017

Leokadia (“Lee”) Sanniola, age 67, died on November 6, 2017 at home, surrounded by her loving family after an incredibly brave, 9 year battle with several different cancers.

Lee was born on May 14, 1950 near Krakow, Poland to Wladyslaw and Wladyslawa (Marzec) Slupik. At age 12, she immigrated to the United States with her parents.   She met the love of her life, Anthony Sanniola, on his birthday in 1968 and married him in Chicago, Illinois on May 8, 1971.  Tony and Lee have 2 children, Jeanette and Brian and lived in the Chicago-area for many years.  They moved to Omaha, Nebraska for 8 years, then back to Schaumburg, Illinois, and moved to Frisco, Texas in 2008 to be near their grandsons.  In all of the places she lived, Lee made wonderful friends.  Everyone who knew her describes her as one of the kindest people they have ever known.  She was our angel on Earth.

Lee is survived by her husband Tony, her daughter Jeanette Zimmer and her husband Bob and their sons, Jake and Enzo; her son Brian Sanniola and his wife Sarah and their daughter, Alyssa; as well as sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, neighbors and friends that were all loved as family.

Leokadia is preceded in death by her parents and her infant sister.

A Memorial Celebration will be held at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 8520 Main Street, Frisco, Texas 75033, on Monday, November 20 at 2 p.m.  A service and inurnment will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Colonial-Wojciechowski Funeral Home, 8025 West Golf Road and Maryhill Cemetery in Niles, Illinois.
