Lenore (Larson) O'Connor

Lenore (Larson) O’Connor, 99, of Allen, Texas, passed away peacefully July 30th, 2020 in her home with family present. Lenore was born July 29th, 1921 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of Bennett and Mae (Marshall) Larson.  She graduated from Washington High School and attended two years at University of Wisconsin.  She was married to James L. O’Connor in 1946.

Lenore is survived by her children, Marimae (O’Connor) Warring of Moses Lake, Washington; James and Beverly (Hoskinson) O’Connor of Bloomington, Illinois; and John and Kathleen (O’Connor) Sukalski of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Michael and Kathleen (Warring) Rath; Carl and Pam (Stevens) Warring; Jennifer O’Connor; Ryan Bruning and Kerry O’Connor; and Bennett Sukalski; great-grandchildren Aileen Warring, Aidan Warring, Carl Rath; Ethan Warring; Marshall Bruning; and Kai O’Connor; brother-in-law Patrick O’Connor and sister-in-law Mary (O’Connor) Julius.  Lenore will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Lenore was preceded in death by her parents, Bennett and Mae (Marshall) Larson; husband, James L. O’Connor; son-in-law, Carl Warring; granddaughter, Constance Warring; mother and father in-law, Leo and Ruth (Samuelson) O’Connor; sisters and brothers in law, Margaret O’Connor, William and Dolores (O’Connor) Minor, Clarence Julius, Julia “Judy” (O’Connor) Longstaff, and Diana (Erickson) O’Connor.

Lenore worked for Globe Union and Wisconsin Telephone in Milwaukee; the Department of the Navy at Great Lakes Naval Station; Miles Kimball in Oshkosh, Wisconsin; Miles Kimball and Byerly Music in Peoria, Illinois and at Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Lenore loved music and dance. She played bassoon in the high school and University orchestra; flute in high school marching band; and was an accomplished pianist.  Lenore was a member of the Milwaukee All City Orchestra. She loved to tell wonderful stories to her children and grandchildren.  She brought joy, light and laughter to any room, and was a great listener and friend to everyone she met.

She was a lifetime member of the ladies VFW Auxiliary and Toys for Tots.  Lenore was a longtime member of Corpus Christi Parish in Fort Dodge, Iowa, Ss. Peter and Paul in Collinsville, Illinois and St. Jude Catholic Church in Allen, Texas.

Grave side rites will be held at a date and time to be determined at Rock Island National Cemetery, in Rock Island, Illinois.  Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013, is handling arrangements.

Memorial contribution may be made in memory of Lenore O’Connor to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, VFW National Children’s Home or a charity of your choice.
