Funeral services for Lenna Bell Compton Barr, 92 year old Celeste resident, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday November 6th at the First Baptist Church of Celeste. Rev. Bob Layman and Rev. Jim Sherwin will officiate. Burial will be in the Celeste/Hogeye Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 6 until 7:30 p.m. Friday November 5th at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel at Leonard. Mrs. Barr was born December 18, 1917 at Celeste, Texas. Her parents were Christopher C. “Lum” and Belva Ann Mulkey Compton. She was a high school graduate and a member of the First Baptist Church of Celeste. She was a beautician for more than 50 years and owned and operated Lenna’s Beauty Shop. She loved to dance and she loved her family especially her many nieces and nephews. She passed away Wednesday Nov. 3rd at her residence. She is survived by her many nieces and nephews as well as two very special friends, Aline Deavers and Pat Davis. She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters: Herman Compton, Coy Compton, Tilmon Compton, Norris Compton, Frances Woodruff and Earl Compton. Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home of Leonard is in charge of arrangements.
