Lenda Layman Thompson, age 72, of Plano, Texas, passed away May 31, 2016. Lenda was born February 1, 1944, in Whitewright, Texas, to Frank Darrell and Emma Lou (Tomlin) Layman, Sr. She was a teacher and coach for thirty-two years at Piner Middle School in the Sherman, Texas ISD. Lenda was a member of Meadows Baptist Church in Plano where she taught Sunday School for over thirty years.
She is survived by her husband, Earl Thompson of Plano, Texas; daughter, Krista Kay Tallant of Wylie, Texas; son, Jeffrey Scott Thompson and wife, Tierney of Plano; grandchildren, Tierny Tallant, Hayden Tallant, Emma Thompson, Colby Tallant, Leyton Thompson, and Hawthorne Thompson; great-grandchild, Torrance Tallant; and sisters, Frances Evans of San Antonio, Texas, Dorthy Franklin of Sherman, Texas, and Cathy Stephens and husband, Larry of Garland, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Frank Layman, Jr. and twin sister at birth, Brenda Bee Layman.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, June 4, 2016, at Meadows Baptist Church in Plano, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., Friday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen.
