Lena Darland Cody, age 87, of McKinney, Texas, passed away January 10, 2014, in McKinney. Mrs. Cody was born January 5, 1927, in McKinney, Texas, to Willis Garrett and Betty Ethel (Hutcherson) Darland. She married W.A. “Jack” Cody on May 26, 1946, in Rockwall, Texas. Mrs. Cody was a member of the Assembly of God faith.
She is survived by her sons, Jerry Wayne Cody and wife Joanna of Sunset, Texas and Terry Glenn Cody of Plano, Texas; grandchildren, Michael Wayne Cody and wife, Jennifer of Sunset, Texas and Shawn Cody of McKinney, Texas; great-grandchildren, Bailey Cody Murphy and husband, Thad of Forestburg, Texas, Virginia Sue Cody and Jack Cody, both of Sunset, Texas, Madison Cody and Berkley Cody, both of McKinney, Texas; and sister, Tiny Reatherford of Sherman, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W. A. “Jack” Cody and brothers, Willis George Darland, John Earl Darland, and James Merle Darland.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 13, 2014, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Sunday evening at the funeral home.
