Lemmie A. Walls

Lemmie “Lem” Alec Walls of Wylie, Texas, formerly of Garland Texas passed away April 19, 2021 at the age of 88. He was born on March 13, 1933 to Lilburn Henry Walls and Hattie (Gray) Walls in Garland, Texas, and was the baby of his family.  Lem joined the United States Marine Corps out of high school and proudly served his country. He married Virginia Smiley on May 24, 1954 in Oklahoma. Lem and his wife Ginny loved to take road trips together, and they have license plates from every state. During their travels, they always stopped at antique stores and looked around at the interesting collections. Lem was an avid watcher of Antiques Roadshow. He was even known to call people to remind them to watch the show. Lem also loved to watch high school and college football.  He enjoyed gardening. When Lem was able, he always kept his yard immaculate. In the backyard was where Lem enjoyed singing with his brother.  He also took great care of his cars.  Being a true Texan, Lem loved a bowl of Blue Bell ice cream. Vanilla ice cream was all he ever wanted. Lem worked as a truck driver for many years. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 67 years, Virginia Walls of Garland, Texas; sons, Barry Dale Walls and wife Kathy of Bland, Virginia; Terry Alex Walls, Sr. of Garland, Texas, and Lanny Joe Walls of Tawakoni, Texas; grandchildren, Amy, Beth, TJ, Joey, Amanda, Jenna, Travis, JC, and Kati;13 great grandchildren; and a host of numerous other loving family and friends.

Lem was preceded in death by his parents, Lilburn and Hattie Walls and 11 brothers and sisters.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas.  The service will also be live streamed at TJMfuneral.com on Lem’s obituary page by clicking on the following link:https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/lemmie-a-walls.  After the service, the recorded live steam will be available for viewing at the same link location. 

Should the maximum number of guests be reached, those who would like to honor Lem and show their support to his family may remain at the funeral home in your vehicle, where you can watch the live streamed service on your personal device (laptop, tablet or smartphone) or listen through a designated FM radio channel.

A “come and go” visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen.  Only a limited number of guests will be allowed to enter the funeral home facility at any one time to maintain social distancing.
