Lela Margaret Oldham

Lela Margaret Oldham of Allen, Texas passed away January 7, 2025 at the age of 82. She was born to Britt Henry and Merle Christine (Shofner) Fietz on June 23, 1942 in Levelland, Texas.

Lela was baptized as a teenager at the Church of Christ in Levelland and was of the Baptist faith. She was a member of New Hope Christian Church in Wylie, Texas. Lela graduated from Levelland High School in 1960 and then went on to attend South Plains College in Levelland where she met and married her first husband, Troy Cole, the same year. Eleven years later, she married her second husband, Bill Oldham, in Durant, Oklahoma in 1971. Lela lived in Plano, Texas for most of her life and worked as a beautician for 10 years in Dallas, Texas and then as a secretary for the Environmental Protection Agency. Her passion was spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and recitals.

Lela is survived by her children, Cory Cole, Christy Turner, Robert Oldham, Cindy Smith, and Catherine DeFries; her nine grandchildren, Asa Hooper, Josh Cole, Liz Turner, Madyson Windsor, Bryson Smith, Jordan Oldham-Greene, Cullon Oldham-Greene, Jillian DeFries and Jeremiah Smith and her five great grandchildren; Alivia Turner, Ava Turner, Axel Turner, Georgia Windsor and Dominic Greene. Lela is also survived by her siblings, Elaine Cristofferson, R.B. Fietz, Drenda Anderson, Philip Fietz and Bill Fietz.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Troy Cole and Bill Oldham, and brothers, Myron, John and Michael Fietz.
