Lawrence H. (Larry) Kester

Lawrence (Larry) H. Kester, 80, of Plano, Texas, passed away on May 14, 2017 in Plano. He was born on June 17, 1936 in Oneonta, New York to Lawrence E. Kester and Jessie M. (Hopkins) Kester. Larry graduated from Nutley High School in Nutley, New Jersey and later attended Upsala College where he earned a bachelor’s degree in biology. He joined the United States Army in July of 1958 and served until March of 1964. He and Edie Rich were married on September 15, 1984. He worked as a sales executive in the food industry for many years.

Larry was a 33rd Degree Mason and very active in the Dallas Scottish Rite. He was also a member in several other local masonic lodges and groups including, Plano Masonic Lodge #768, East Fork Lodge #650, Tranquility Lodge #2000, Hella Shrine, Royal Order of Scotland, Plano Shrine Club (past president), Legion of Honor-Hella Shrine.

He is survived by his daughter, Laura Adkison and husband Troy of Plano, TX; two stepdaughters, Beth May and husband Ty of Plano, TX and Karen Rich of Sachse, TX; grandchildren, Alex Adkison, Amanda Adkison, Madison Cheney, Michael Cheney and Marshall Cheney.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas with burial following at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at a visitation on Thursday evening, May 18, 2017, from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
