LaVern Miller of Prosper, Texas, formerly of El Campo, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 4, 2016 at the age of 90. She was born on September 13, 1925 to Gilbert Alvin and Delia (McAdams) Hultquist in Blessing, Texas. LaVern was a long time member of First Baptist Church in El Campo, Texas, where she put her faith and trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation at the age of 13. She previously was an active volunteer for the Blessing Cup Storehouse in El Campo. She was in the first graduating class of Wharton County Junior College in 1948. LaVern worked in automotive bookkeeping for many years, with the majority of her career spent at Cochran Motor Company in Wharton, Texas. She was currently an active member of Stepping Stones Church in McKinney, Texas.
LaVern is survived by her son, Hoby Miller of Prosper, Texas; her sister, Imo Richardson of York, Nebraska; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Glen Hultquist; and her sister, Ione Benner.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel in Allen, Texas with Dr. Jeff Nyberg officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Wednesday evening, September 7, 2016 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
