Laurence Farnen was born on September 17, 1920 in Dalton-in-Furness, England. Husband, father, and grandfather, he died peacefully on July 14, 2007. After graduating from high school in 1938 and a short career working in a steel mill, he joined the U.S. Army Air Corps in March 1942. He served in the Pacific Theater during World War II in the Philippines and New Guinea and was honorably discharged in January 1946. Shortly thereafter, he attended and later graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Hanover College in 1952. While at Hanover, he was a member of Beta Theta Pi. His greatest achievement at Hanover was meeting his wife for life Jeanette, and together they enjoyed over 55 years of marriage. They successfully raised a son and four daughters, Laurence Jr., Randi, Victoria, Jeanne, and Paula. He was also blessed with two grandchildren Philip Laurence and Amanda Faith. He retired after a successful thirty-three year career with The Associates Financial Services Corporation and during his working career offered his services to the community as a 33rd Degree Mason. He taught us many lessons in his life, chief among them love of family, perseverance, and to do your best at all times. He also loved the game of golf and from now on he will hit the balls long and straight and putt them true. Internment will be at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please send a contribution to the Alzheimer’s Association to stop this insidious disease. Alzheimer’s Association,
