The Johnson and Dennis Family regret to announce the death of our family matriarch Laura Dennis Johnson of McKinney, Texas; she passed away on May 4, 2020, at the age of 94. She was born June 22, 1925, to the union of Norwood T. Dennis, Sr. and Catherine L. Jackson Dennis of Careysburg Liberia.

Laura is survived by her son, Cyril C. Johnson, and wife, Rita; her daughter, Laura C. Johnson-Moore and husband, John Willy; daughter-in-law, Ophelia Johnson; her grandchildren, Spencer G. Johnson and wife, Wede-Joy, Ishmael Johnson, Vera I. Johnson-Tokpah and husband, Anthony, Alvina C. Johnson Jasper and husband Chester, Florence L. Johnson, Alvin Johnson Jr., and Wlehdae M. Moore.

She was predeceased in death by her son, Alvin B. Johnson; brothers, Norwood T. Dennis Sr., Joseph A. Dennis, Francis A. Dennis, Raulston C. Dennis; brother-in-law, Dr. Renzo Nylander; sister-in-law, Maude Parker Dennis and Maude Jones Dennis. 

In support of our local, state, and federal govt including CDC directives and to protect the physical health, safety and well-being of our community, only a limited number of invited guests will be allowed to attend the Funeral Service.

The service will also be live streamed on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. on the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Facebook page and a recorded video will be available following the funeral service on Laura’s obituary page.

However, those who would like to honor Laura and show their support to her family may come to the funeral home where ample parking is available. While you remain in your vehicle, you may watch the live streamed service on your personal device (laptop, tablet or smartphone) or listen through a designated FM radio channel.

Following the funeral service, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park for a committal service where all are invited to attend the committal service by standing at a minimum distance of 20 feet from the tent and 6 feet apart from one another to comply with social distancing directives or you may remain in your vehicle. Subject to the Memorial Park/Cemetery guidelines.
