Laura Sue Baker

Laura Sue Baker a longtime resident of McKinney, Texas passed away February 10, 2021 at the age of 76.  She was born on May 20, 1944 to Jasper Nelson and Lavenia (Pippin) Nelson in McKinney.  Laura was a graduate of Plano High School in Plano, Texas.  At 18 years of age, she started her working career at Harrington Drug Store in Plano, Texas.  Laura later worked at various Day Care Centers.  She married the late Jerry Lynn Baker on May 16, 1963 in McKinney.  Laura was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister to her family.  She attended Kings Trail Cowboy Church in Whitewright, Texas.

Laura is survived by her son, Forrest Lee Baker and wife, Sondra of Anna, Texas; daughters, Teresa Savell and husband, Allen of Allen, Texas and Kimberly Ellis and husband, Billy of McKinney, Texas, grandchildren, Ashley Dean, Shannon Savell, Nikki Savell, Jordan Baker, Melissa Ellis, B.J. Ellis, and Stephen Ellis; thirteen great-grandchildren, brothers, Larry Nelson of McKinney, Texas and Kenneth Nelson and wife, Marian of Fort Worth, Texas; numerous other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jasper and Lavenia Nelson and husband, Jerry Lynn Baker.

In support of our local, state, and federal govt including CDC directives and to protect the physical health, safety and well-being of our community, only 100 guests will be allowed to attend the funeral service.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas.  The service will also be live streamed at TJMfuneral.com on Laura’s obituary page by clicking on the following link:  https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/laura-sue-baker.  After the service, the recorded live steam will be available for viewing at the same link location.

Should the maximum number of guests be reached, those who would like to honor Laura and show their support to her family may remain at the funeral home in your vehicle, where you can watch the live streamed service on your personal device (laptop, tablet or smartphone) or listen through a designated FM radio channel.

Interment is to follow at Pecan Grove Cemetery in McKinney, Texas.  Anyone attending the graveside is to maintain social distancing or may remain in their vehicle.

A “come and go” visitation will be held from Friday afternoon 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, in Allen.  Only a limited number of guests will be allowed to enter the funeral home facility at any one time to maintain social distancing and masks will be required.
