Laura Nicoleta Thomas of Plano, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, August 27, 2020.  Loving daughter of the late Nicholas Tomescu and the late Domnica Dimitrescu Tomescu.  Dear sister of Marian (Toula) Tomescu.  Proud aunt to Christopher Tomescu.

Beloved friend of Despina Pestesi since childhood in Romania. Despina stated we had a lot of hardship during the darkest years of communism in Romania, struggling along with our parents to satisfy our daily needs.

Laura was born in Romania's capital city of Bucuresti on June 30, 1954. Sergeant Laura Tomescu is an army veteran, that proudly served her country and was granted an honorable discharge.

Laura was an exemplary straight A student, who was always reading and bettering herself and providing a positive example for friends.  Laura was awarded a baccalaureate degree and continued education to earn a Master’s in Mathematics Degree in September 1979.  Laura moved from Romania to Dallas, Texas and worked for the Texas Instruments and JCPenny providing Information Technology services.

She enjoyed learning.  Romanian was her native language and she loved learning additional foreign languages and communicating with others in English, French, Spanish, and Hebrew.  During retirement Laura became a certified massage therapist to help persons with multiple sclerosis (MS) and chronic pain.

Laura was a kind, gentle, soft spoken devout Christian who worshiped regularly at church and enjoyed bibles studies.  Laura enjoyed frequent trips to Australia, Europe, Egypt, and Israel.

A "come and go" visitation will be held on Friday, September 4, 2020 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.  Only a limited number of guests will be allowed to enter the funeral home facility at any one time to maintain social distancing. 

A memorial graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas with Pastor Craig Nelson officiating.
